Bus Breaks Down!

- Not Again!!!

- hooking up for the tow
- Pastor chad and Pastor Fred helping get the trailer to the next exit.
Do you remember the show Hee Haw? Grandpa Jones and the guys would sing the song" Gloom, despair and agony on me, deep dark depression is hanging over me, if I had no bad luck I'd have no luck at all" well I'm thinking that the family may soon have to adopt that as a theme song. Do you believe that 3 weeks after we had a fire in our RV ,we broke down in the bus that we were borrowing.
This weekend we traveled to DE then on to NH and CT and then back to PA. The weekend was going well. We had the privilegeto sing at Sam Yoder's farm in Houston, DE. Sam and Anna do a wonderful job of putting on concerts there and if you are interested in tractors, like Garrett is, you will love the atmosphere. We enjoyed greatly being back in Milford, NH and then seeing Pastor Earl again in Windsor Locks, CT.
As we made our way back to PA ,we were about 2 1/2 hours from home when,AGAIN, we were on a PA mountain and Scott said " I have bad news" .The bus was losing power and he could see black smoke coming from the back of the bus. He got off the road and we all got out. After checking out the situation it became clear quickly that this was not a fixable problem. Antifreeze was running out all over the ground. We were stopped along interstate 81 near Wilkes-Barre, PA. We called Pastor Chad from the Wilkes-Barre Assembly of God Church. We sang twice at his church and we know they are wonderful people. Long story short, we called a tow truck, Pastor Chad and Pastor Fred came to the rescue from the church and took us to the next exit and waited with us until our poor family had to come retrieve us again to take us home.
The funniest part of the break down was, while we were waiting on the tow truck and a ride, a truck hauling a trailer pulled off ahead of where we were broken down. There was no one stopping to see if we were ok along the highway. We were toward the top of the mountain and in some minor construction area with guard rails, so there really wasn't a good place for vehicles to get off the road, but this truck pulled off and we thought ,wow!, here comes a friendly person to help. To our surprise he jumped over the guard rail , walked into the brush to relieve himself and then jumped back into his truck and left. If nothing else we had a good laugh while we waited.
There are a few pictures while we waited. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of our unexpected entertainment.
RV catches fire
On Saturday night August 29, we had left a concert in the Harrisburg area and were traveling toward State College, PA at about 11:30pm. We were traveling up a mountain and we started to smell something unusually hot. There was a pop and with in a minute Scott, who was driving, realized we where losing all driving ability. He had no breaks, or steering, we know God got us off the road. When the RV stopped, the front of the camper filled quickly with smoke and we hurried to get out. We all got out safely, then the guys, Scott and Jeff and 2 guys who stopped to help, began going back into the camper to throw water onto the engine. The fire was out till the fireman got to the scene but they where very kind and got the kids, Fawn, Margaret and Lori to a rest stop until the tow truck and Harry could come get us. We are still awaiting the insurance to see if the camper is a total loss but God has a plan and we will continue.
- Fire trucks and police arriving
- Fireman in camper checking engine
- waiting in the ambulance to go to a rest stop until a tow truck could come
- Garrett sleeping at the rest stop
- Issac not sleeping as we wait at the rest stop
- Renee is the blob under the blanket trying to sleep at the rest stop
Labor Day Weekend
Have you been to an OX Roast? We had a great time for the 8th year at the Quincy OX Roast. We had some very special guests with us on Monday.Margaret brought 7 of her sisters to sing with, it had been 40 years since they sang as a group except for their mom's funeral. Micah, Scott and Fawn's younger brother, also joined the fun for about 20 min while they sang from the families earlier recordings . We also had a guest piano player for the day, Brad Whiteknight. He and his wife Janna, are from Dover ,DE. We asked him to help us out for the day. He did a great job as usual.
If you had a chance to see the family there, let us know what you thought. We will hopefully have some video clips up in the following days.
Welcome!
Glad you decided to drop by the Bumbaugh Buzz page! We'll be adding LOTS of new things soon, so check back often!
